Tell us about your sports & fitness background:
Played high school sports and some sports in college. After college, I worked out occasionally until I got tired of it and would fatten up again.
How were you first exposed to Crossfit?
Wife and I had talked about working out together and I purchsed a two month couple membership at Cattle Baron's to Crossfit Tyler. No other exposure prior to this.
What was your first WOD and how did it feel?
Pretty sure it was some sort of kettle bell swing WOD. Was worn out and still wasn't sure what I was getting into.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)?
I am stronger in all aspects of my body. Blood pressure is good, I watch what I eat/drink and overall endurance is better.
I really like when a family member or friend asks me what I am doing because I look so trim. My son has commented several times about my shoulders and arms.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
Confidence to try a Tough Mudder, Triathlon or some other challenge. Also have been an encouragement to family members to workout.
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFT moments.
I have enjoyed the friendships that have been formed at CFT. Enjoyed competing in Festivus and the CrossFit games at our box. I knew I was going to fit in and like Crossfit when I saw beer being consumed by the coaches at my first Christmas party at CFT. I told my wife, this is great.
Any advice for people just getting started?
Patience. You didn't get fat and out of shape overnight and your not going to fix the problem overnight.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
I love my Family dearly and spend a lot of time with them. I do have a passion for cooking and enjoy spending time at the grocery store and in the kitchen.
