Our Athlete for the hottest month of the year is 31 year-old indomitable Amberr Hester. She's been CrossFitting for 4 years.

Favorite WOD:  
I'll have to get back to you on that :). I like wall balls and kettle bell swings.
Least Favorite WOD: 

Anything with RUNNING!

How/Why did you start CrossFit?  

[My husband] Matt had already "drunk the kool aid" and swore I would love it!

Take us back to your first WOD... what was it, and how did it feel?

Oh gosh, I remember hearing coach Brad talk about the WOD I was thinking to myself these people are nuts. I only did half of it which was 5 of the 10 rounds. 

​I know it had running and wall balls. I feel like it took me the whole night to catch my breath.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting CrossFit (before/after)?  

I started CrossFit right before having our first child. I feel like being in some sort of shape made pregnancy easier and helped me recover faster.
Counting my macros helped me figure out what I should and shouldn't eat -it helped me lean out .

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced from taking on CrossFit that were totally unexpected?  

Friends!

​I have met some of my favorite people at CrossFit. It always makes the WOD more fun to have someone talk crap to you and cheer you on in the same breath.

There are days for everyone when you just don’t want to work out. How do you handle those? 

I just go - getting there is the hardest part! But there are those occasional days I take a nap instead :).

Please share with us your favorite CrossFit / CFT moments.

This year was the first time I competed in Friday Night Lights all 5 weeks. It was way out of my comfort zone, but it was a lot of fun and so encouraging!
Any advice for people just getting started?

CrossFit isn't as scary as everyone makes it sound!  Scale when Coach says scale - you will thank them later. No one is going to judge you for scaling. We have all been there at some point or another. Swallow your pride. We all have stuff we aren't good at.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?

When I'm not chasing my kids around ( 3 & 1), I enjoy playing volleyball, softball, and deer hunting.
