Why/how did you get started with CrossFit?
Noticed I had let myself fall into the "married dad bod" and couldn't even run around the soccer field with Ashley without stuggling to breathe. Heart disease runs through my family. I don't want to die from something I could've prevented.
What was your first WOD?
Fran--took me 17 minutes and was depressing. I thought I was more in shape having been in a boot camp for around 6 months prior.
What are the biggest changes to your life since starting CrossFit?
Obviously stronger now, but eating habits are the biggest change I think. I don't follow a "strict" diet but I know what works for me. I'm now more aware on portions and quality of the food I eat.
How do you handle the days that you don't/can't make it to the box?
Suck it up and go. I'm usually grumpy. After the WOD, and I've moved weight, I'm proud of myself that I didn't sleep in. Unless it's Karen, and then I just hit the snooze.
Do you have any advice for beginning CrossFitters?
Go. Everyday. Don't be afraid to scale. We are not games athletes, but consistency is what has given me the most results.
What are your hobbies or interests outside of CrossFit?
Anything with my girls outside, in the woods or on the water.
What is your super power?
I can make a package of Oreos disappear. Quickly.
