What are your Favorite WODs? Mollie: Annie (cause I get to sit on my booty the majority of the time)! Brennan: Any long OMEM. I enjoy these because they teach you to ignore your mind telling you to quit and push your body. Brennan: I literally Googled "CrossFit," and Crossfit Tyler pulled up first! I called and spoke with Nevin and set up an intro session. When I came and met Amy and Brad and the rest of the community, I knew I wanted to workout there. You two met at the box! Can you tell us a bit about how you first noticed one another and first started dating? Mollie: The first thing I noticed about Brennan were his BIG WHITE…. LEGS. And then his big white smile;). I specifically remember being cornered by 3 little match makers (Amy, Nevin and Charleigh) about a potential set-up. And like a million days later, he finally got up the nerve to ask for my number. Brennan: I was coaching barbell club and putting out the vibe…. I saw Mollie across the room and the first thing I noticed was her blonde hair, and of course her beautiful smile. And her twangy accent. Take us back to your first WOD together... what was it, and how did it feel? Brennan: The first WOD we did together was 3 rounds for time of: 50 meter walking lunge, 50 air squats, 50 back extensions. It was as awful as it sounds. Mollie: It wasn’t that bad! He’s such a titty baby sometimes. How do you manage your workout schedules as a couple? Mollie: He’s training to be some crazy warrior CrossFitter with 2 hour work out sessions and I’m content with just showing up to survive the WOD. Somehow it works. Brennan: I am in school during the week, so my workout schedule changes from day to day. Mollie typically works out after work at 5:30 so that she can talk with all of her friends, aka Gossip Girls. What benefits has sharing a love for CrossFit brought to your relationship? Mollie: I learn a lot by watching Brennan’s determination and drive. It makes me want to sand bag the WODs a lot less! Brennan: It brought me my future wife! What challenges has sharing a love for CrossFit brought to your relationship? How do you handle those? Brennan: I enjoy the mental anguish that is involved with Crossfit, and I expect Mollie to enjoy the same thing. She does not!! I handle that by understanding that she just wants to workout and be in shape, and does not have the same goals that I have. Mollie: Brennan gets annoyed when I sand bag the WODs. I handle it by working out when he isn’t around. Haha, just kidding! I’m really bad about pushing through when it gets tough and I’m pretty sure it drives him crazy. But we both have an understanding of each other’s goals, so we do our best to encourage one another at achieving those.
Brennan: Always have fun and be an encouragement when your partner needs it most! Mollie: There are days I feel beat up and sore, and would honestly rather stay at home and eat ice cream, but having someone encouraging me to keep moving and finish the week strong is sometimes the only reason I am able to show up. Be that push for your partner and an example of dedication in everything, even outside the box. Any advice for CrossFitters who would like to encourage their partners to join them at the box? Brennan: To not be intimidated by CrossFit. It’s for every skill/fitness level. And most of all, it’s something you can get better at together. Mollie: Even though the work out part of CrossFit can be hard at times, sharing a love for something with your other half can only be beneficial for the relationship! Enjoy it together and continually try to encourage and push each other to be better and, most importantly, to always have fun while doing it! What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
Mollie: Brennan has turned me into a Rangers fan, so I really enjoy it when we’re able to get out of town for the day and watch some baseball in Arlington. Reading is definitely one of my biggest interests that I don’t do enough! My current talent is pulling off a wedding in 6 weeks! Brennan: I love to read. I love sales and communicating with people. And obviously, spending time with Mollie and her (well, our) dog, Lady. |
