HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Our first Athlete of the Month for 2017 is Adam Justice. 37 years old from Flint, TX, Adam
is newly returned to CrossFit a rockin' a win!

As the winner of our 6-Week Back To Basics Challenge, he lost:
  • 19.5 lbs
  • 5.9% body fat, and
  • 4.5 inches

Rock on, Adam!!
When did you first start CrossFitting?

2013 at the old box then came back in July 2016

Favorite WOD:

Really hard to pick just one. I am getting better at double unders. Pretty much any WOD where I see myself improving from a previous attempt.

Least Favorite WOD:  BARBARA

How/Why did you start CrossFit?

I started back again in July 2016 to get in shape and to keep myself occupied. My brother is a Level 1 coach in AZ and he was visiting in July and we came to the box for a WOD and I’ve been back at it since.

Take us back to your first WOD... what was it, and how did it feel?

The very first at the old box I don’t remember but the WOD in July when I came with my brother was hell I seem to recall box jumps and burpees. I remember feeling very nauseous pretty much the rest of the day.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting CrossFit (before/after)?

Before I was lethargic. Didn’t like to do much. I worked and sat around a lot. Now I’ve lost 20+ pounds. I feel better. I look better. Mentally I am more focused. Just an all around improvement in my lifestyle.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced from taking on CrossFit that were totally unexpected?

The food challenge was big for me. I didn’t realize just how much your diet affects you. I knew it was a big part just not how big.

There are days for everyone when you just don’t want to work out. How do you handle those?
I try to remember why I go. The feeling you get after the WOD. The goals I have. If I really can’t make it to the box then I find a way to improvise. Yoga, a run, or something basic at the house.

Please share with us your favorite CrossFit / CFT moments.

So far winning the BTB challenge was a big highlight. Also, I participated in my first competition last weekend. The Santa’s WODshop team competition. Tons of fun. No way would I have been able to even remotely get through it if it wasn’t for CFT.

Any advice for people just getting started?

No matter how crappy you feel the first couple days or weeks don’t give up. Keep at it because its very worth it.

Movies (Star Wars), guitar, heavy metal, golf, football, soccer

What is your superpower?
T
he power of talking incessantly and creating awkward silences.
