I feel like I have been overweight my entire life. As an adult I think I have tried every "magic" pill, every meal replacement shake, and every workout program there is or ever was. Nothing seemed to ever work.

Then a friend invited me to try CrossFit. I was so nervous that first day. You mean I'm gonna have to workout in front of 15 -20 other people? They're all gonna stare at me... They're gonna laugh when my shirt pulls up over my gut... So many stereotypical worries and concerns filled my head that I almost didn't go. Matter of fact, it took another 6 weeks to actually get me to go.

When I walked in, though, I realized that I'd probably made one of the most important decisions of my life. Everyone in that class was so friendly. Each person introduced themselves and really made me feel welcome. Seriously, like it wasn't my first day and they all knew me already. It was great!!!
CrossFit wasn't even my first gym experience.  In fact, I was a member of two different gyms in town when I joined CrossFit Tyler. They had some classes that were pretty cool. I took those and hit the weights, but never got the results that I was looking for.

There was no one there to push me. I had no drive on my own. Sure, I could've paid a personal trainer to yell at me and tell me what to do (and I did for three visits) but if you think CrossFit is expensive, try getting some prices from the trainers!

For me, CrossFit is like getting together with my friends for a workout. We walk in and the WOD is on the board. You know what you're gonna do. I need that kind of guidance. I have to be lined out everyday. At the gym you walk in, hit the treadmill and a few machines and leave. I would barely have a sweat ring around the top of my shirt. Now, I have to have a change of clothes when I leave. I've never left the Box feeling like I didn't do enough that day. Its a great confidence booster to know that you just put in the work that you need to reach your goals.

Then when I decided to really change my eating habits, I spoke to Amy and Sarah after class one day. They gave me so much info and were so helpful with all my questions.  

Since starting at CrossFit Tyler, my body is getting more toned since I'm building muscle. I can wear my wedding ring that I haven't been able to wear in two years. I'm down two pants sizes and a shirt size. The small victories like these seemed to come every week. Something new to feel awesome about. 

I saw results so quickly and the atmosphere at CrossFit was so awesome that I constantly hounded my wife Jamie to come and try it.  Well, she drank the "koolaid" too. 

CrossFit was the best choice for ME. I found my thing. The community is what it's really all about. If you want to be a part of something greater than yourself - something that will push you every time you are there - then give CrossFit Tyler a shot. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

"Fitness" and "Fun" aren't words I would have ever used in the same sentence. 
I love my wine and cheese, and work from home, so I have to do something active to feel good. I enjoyed running for a while - even did half-marathons in four different countries.

But two children and two businesses later, I'd lost any interest in the monotony of running and traditional workouts. I woke up to the heart-breaking realization that I hadn't been active in nearly THREE YEARS. And I didn't feel good at all. There was no more denying that I was self-medicating with food, alcohol, and a whole lot of excuses. After an epic cry, my husband suggested CrossFit Tyler, where a couple of friends were members. 

So I committed to at least a month of CrossFit. It certainly looked different than all my other options. And it is! I get to do something different every single day. It NEVER gets boring. I love that women aren't relegated to the "hand weights." I love that I didn't get one single cross-eyed look for being bigger. I love that the only person I am ever competing with is ME.

In three months, I went from being winded from the "warmup" to taking on extra training sessions. I just can't get enough! 

CrossFit Tyler is undeniably special. I am having FUN becoming stronger - and happier - because I've got a whole community of people cheering me on. Now it's a family affair! My husband has since joined - giving us something new to share together. And my kids jump at the chance to go "party" at the "Box."

I drive 35 minutes one-way to get CrossFit Tyler every day. I don't always think I WANT to go. But I walk out every single time feeling like a ROCK STAR. And so will you! And so will you!
