JAMON COPELAND - CrossFit Coach

Picture
Being involved in athletics my entire life. I needed to find an outlet to compete in once my playing career was over. When I was coaching at Texas State University, I got really into competing in triathlons and loved it. However, once we moved to Florida I was scared to open water swim with alligators and sharks so I started looking for another competitive outlet.

A buddy of mine in college had told me about CrossFit years before and how much
he loved it. I researched it, looked at crossfit.com and saw that most of the workouts were under 10 minutes and thought to myself, “There is no way you can get a solid workout in in that amount of time!” So I never tried it. When I was looking for another competitive outlet other than triathlons I tried CrossFit in Florida in 2011 and was hooked from the first workout.
It had the variety and short transitions of triathlons without the hours per day of training. I was hooked and never looked back.

I am a simple guy that is passionate about 4 things: my Catholic faith, my family, my job, and fitness. I am married to the love of my life, Jessica Copeland, and we have four
wonderful children (Corban – 6, Blaise – 5, Asher – 3, and Baby Copeland – due May 4 th ).

We have lived in Tyler for over 3 years now and love the community! I am the head men’s basketball coach and an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Texas at Tyler. I am excited to be a part of the CrossFit Tyler community!

I CrossFit because I love the challenge to compete against yourself and constantly strive to be the best version of yourself daily.

I Coach because I am passionate about helping people achieve their fitness and healthy lifestyle goals.

You'll catch me smiling in the gym when people are attacking the workouts with a positive attitude.

My Favorite Movements are the few movements that taller individuals have an advantage performing (running, box jumps, wall balls, and rowing), haha.

I am challenged by HSPU’s.

When I eat what I want I will crush some Chicken Fried Steak!
